ALBIS is planning a reorganization at group level. The previous functional group structure, divided into seven business units, will be transformed into a divisional, business field-oriented group structure. It is planned to create two autonomously operating companies within the ALBIS group: The distribution business and the compounding business will be formally separated in order to strengthen them as autonomous companies within a holding structure. The plans are at an initial stage and will be closely coordinated with the workers council.
"We consider the realignment and the associated increase in efficiency to be necessary to face the strategic challenges and opportunities of the future," says Philip O. Krahn, CEO of ALBIS PLASTIC GmbH. Digitalization is a hot topic and does not stop at the plastics industry. At the same time, globalization is increasing the number of competitors and capacities in an already competitive market. As a consequence, customers demand more of ALBIS. "In order to meet these strategic challenges, ALBIS must focus on its strengths in distribution and at the same time exploit its potential in the compound business. We are convinced that this is done best by separating the two divisions operationally and transfering them into entities with own growth and cost responsibilities," continued Krahn.
Horst Klink, current Vice President Distribution, will lead the new Distribution Division. Ian Mills, former MD ALBIS UK and current Chief Sales Officer of ALBIS group, will head the Compounding Division.
The planned re-organization will be carried out without job cuts and final implementation is estimated by mid-2020.
