ALBIS at Fakuma 2026: Material solutions for complex requirements

Hamburg, September 8, 2026. At Fakuma 2026, taking place from October 12 to 16 in Friedrichshafen, ALBIS will present its broad product portfolio and selected material solutions for a range of applications in Hall B4, Booth 4206. The globally active plastics distributor combines material and application expertise with technical consulting and regulatory know-how.

The applications on display span Mobility and Healthcare, Electrical & Electronics as well as Consumer & Construction. Depending on the area of use, requirements range from chemical resistance and documented suitability to flame retardancy, electrical properties, design flexibility and efficient processing. Based on its comprehensive portfolio and its industry and application expertise, ALBIS can compare a wide range of thermoplastic material options and assess them for specific applications.

Addressing regulatory requirements early
Alongside application-specific criteria, regulatory requirements and the availability of reliable product data are playing an increasingly important role in material selection. These include requirements relating to PFAS as well as food contact and drinking water applications in the EU, new regulations in the automotive and packaging sectors (ELV/PPWR) as well as requirements relating to environmental information and environmental claims (EmpCo).

ALBIS supports customers in assessing relevant requirements early and evaluating suitable material options. This includes ISCC PLUS certified mass balance solutions as alternatives to conventional fossil-based materials, as well as materials with post-consumer recycled content for applications affected by future requirements under the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation. This allows regulatory developments to be considered early in material selection and product development. Available technical and environmental data, including independently verified information where applicable, support transparent assessment and documentation.

PFAS-free material options
In view of the proposed EU-wide PFAS restriction, ALBIS will highlight a range of PFAS-free and NIA (not intentionally added) PFAS solutions from leading partners. Across the industry, many material manufacturers are already offering or working on alternatives for applications that have traditionally relied on PFAS-containing additives.

One example is a set of gears for airport baggage handling systems made from a PFAS-free Ultraform® POM solution from BASF. The two-gear plastic design replaces a metal version, combining low wear and abrasion with reduced noise levels while avoiding the use of traditional PFAS-containing additives.
