INJECAO PLASTICA, ALBIS and COVESTRO optimize STRAPITEC’s “Diamond” street light for usage in Dutch communities
Hamburg, 05/06/2019. In close cooperation, INJECAO PLASTICA, ALBIS PLASTIC and COVESTRO have optimized STRAPITEC´s “Diamond” street light model, which is in use throughout various communities in the Netherlands. By implementing the translucent Makrolon® grade 2407 021180 in the housing part, key features of the application were improved even further.
While offering a warmer light than before, the material provides the ecological effects which come with a high lumen/watt ratio and end of life recyclability. Having to withstand all kinds of weather for years to come, the well-designed robust and waterproof housing enables a strong Return on Investment as long operational guarantee periods can be provided. Its strong vertical illuminance ensures an efficient light distribution and social safety.
‘’From sales to technical support, our contacts at ALBIS Benelux are there for us and will always find a suitable solution to keep operations going. ALBIS has a lot of experience and will always think along with us, as can be seen in the diamond lamp project’’, according to Niels van Duijn, Operations Manager at INJECAO PLASTICA.
Ronald Brink, Managing Director ALBIS Benelux, says: “With INJECAO PLASTICA, we look back on a trusting partnership which already lasts for several years. This streetlight is a good example of how to further optimize the performance and cost-effectiveness of an application with close collaboration and a clear analysis which result in the selection of the best possible material.”
“ALBIS is clearly an expert in understanding customer needs and matching these with adequate high-performance products such as the Makrolon® light diffusion portfolio. With the successful commercialization of the DIAMOND street light project, ALBIS underlines once more the important benefits that can be brought to customers via the long-lasting and trustful distribution partnership with Covestro. Together we strive for material solutions that enable efficient LED based luminaires to meet the demands of the future of urban infrastructure and beyond”, says Achim Gustorf, VP Head of Distribution PCS EMEA at Covestro.
Additionally, another part of the streetlight has been improved in close cooperation with ALBIS: ALTECH® PA6 ECO 2030/219 was chosen for the lamp foot for its environmental credentials, combined with cost competitiveness, and for extra security regarding freezing and dry conditions which the streetlight might by exposed to.
“This collaboration is a perfect example of ALBIS's core competence: After thorough analysis, we select the optimum solution for each individual application from our comprehensive portfolio”, added Ronald Brink.
