BASF is the world's largest chemical company in terms of turnover and was founded in Germany as early as 1865. BASF combines economic success with the sustainable protection of the environment and social responsibility.

The marketing of Polystyrol (PS) and Ultramid® (PA) in 1967 laid the foundation for the successful cooperation between ALBIS and BASF, which continues to this day. Over time, this trusting partnership has been steadily expanded and intensified. Numerous new sales regions were added - today we sell BASF products in almost all European countries. The key criteria for the close partnership between BASF and ALBIS are reliability, trust and success. These values have marked our cooperation for more than 50 years.

In addition to the expansion of the sales regions, cooperation in the field of compounding, application technology and the development of projects have been intensified.

In 2017, the cooperation was further strengthened with the addition of new specialty PA products such as Ultramid® Advanced N and Ultramid® Vision.

    Ultramid®

Ultramid® is BASF's trade name for its line of polyamide (PA) products. BASF started manufacturing Ultramid® polyamides over 50 years ago. Ultramid® is the trade name for polyamides supplied by BASF for injection molding and extrusion. The product range includes PA6 grades (Ultramid® B), PA66 grades (Ultramid® A), special polyamides like PA6T/6 (Ultramid® T) and PA610 (Ultramid® S Balance) as well as special grades based on copolyamides. Ultramid® A is produced by condensation polymerization of hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid, Ultramid® B by hydrolytic polymerization of caprolactam. These materials are obtained from petrochemical feedstocks such as benzene, cyclohexane and p-xylene.

    Industries

The Ultramid® extrusion grades, available in a wide variety of viscosities and additive packages, are used in nearly all fields of packaging. Ultramid® can also be used for the production of stretched monofilaments such as industrial wires, fishing lines, tennis racket strings, weed trimmer lines and bristles.
